Seatbelts

Both the Anchorage Police Department and the Alaska State troopers say they have been very busy as part of a statewide effort to boost compliance with the seatbelt law. The goal is to change behavior and save lives. Every year in Alaska, people lose their lives in crashes because they weren't wearing seatbelts. In 2005, 15 people were killed in Anchorage crashes -- six because they weren't buckled up.
