Fuel Economy

The long term expectation of the BioTown Project is to completely meet all the energy needs of Reynolds via biorenewable resources, including electricity, natural gas replacement, and vehicular fuel. Meeting the energy needs of this town with renewable sources will be the first of its kind in the world, while using environmentally friendly technologies that will convert animal and human waste to biogas, which translates into energy.

The Possibilities are Endless...

Electricity, ethanol, biodiesel, natural gas replacement, a healthier environment, and many other things are all possibilities. We don't have all of the answers. We do have a vision to create the first biorenewable town in the United States.

The Focus

The focus of BioTown, USA is to turn challenges into opportunities. The major opportunities include: homegrown, local energy production and independence from foreign sources; a cleaner environment; solution to waste management issues; the potential to grow Indiana agriculture; and state and local economic development.

Since Reynolds is becoming the first BioTown in the nation, it is important that the town sets an example for the local community and the State by replacing the town's vehicle fleet with alternative fuel vehicles. Phase I of BioTown will provide opportunities to the town and community residents to obtain and use flex fuel vehicles, ethanol, and biodiesel. General Motors has partnered with the Reynolds and the BioTown community to provide special pricing on the purchase of any flex fuel vehicle.
