The Safest Cars of 2007

Is safety your top priority in a car? Then there are 13 cars that you should consider for 2007.

Each year the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates cars based on their safety when faced with frontal offset impact crashes, side impact crash and rear end crashes.

The cars are then rated with Good, Acceptable, Marginal or Poor in each of the three crash scenarios. In order for any car model to be named one of the Institutes “Top Safety Picks,” it must earn a Good rating in all three impact tests as well as offer electronic stability control (this is new requirement for 2007).

Electronic stability control combines anti-lock brakes, traction control and rotation (or yaw) control to improve a vehicle’s handling, and has been found to significantly reduce the risk of fatal single vehicle crashes.
