The Safest Cars of 2010

Is safety your top priority in a car? Then there are several cars you can consider for 2008.
 
Each year the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates cars based on their safety when faced with frontal offset impact crashes, side impact crash and rear end crashes.
 
The cars are then rated with Good, Acceptable, Marginal or Poor in each of the three crash scenarios. In order for any car model to be named one of the Institutes “Top Safety Picks,” it must earn a Good rating in all three impact tests as well as offer electronic stability control.
 
Electronic stability control combines anti-lock brakes, traction control and rotation (or yaw) control to improve a vehicle’s handling, and has been found to significantly reduce the risk of fatal single vehicle crashes.
