Roadside Hardware
Colorado continues to be complacent with their roadside hardware. On I-70 we mostly saw BCT’s on rusted guardrail. In the cases where they have updated their terminals, it is our opinion that they have chosen to use hardware that isn’t the best. They are using the slotted rail instead of the ET-2000. We have been informed on 12/8/00 that Colorado has adopted the Slotted Rail Terminal and the ET-2000. We wish they would only use the safer ET-2000 and save more lives. We do not have the statistics on the slotted Rail Terminal but they will most likely have a higher death and injury rate than the ET-2000.
