Auto Insurance

Maryland drivers must purchase minimum amounts of car insurance coverage for the protection of everyone on the road. These types and amounts are required by law:

Bodily Injury Liability: $20,000 per person, $40,000 per accident and $15,000 property damage
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist

Same minimums as bodily injury liability
Personal Injury Protection (PIP): $2,500 (May be waived, depending on your health care coverage)

Licensed Maryland car insurance agents can explain these coverages further and help you decipher their affect on the cost of your Maryland car insurance.

Other Coverage You May Need

You may also need physical damage coverage. This pays for damage to your car, minus your deductible, in case of an accident, and includes both collision and comprehensive. Collision pays for damage incurred when you're involved in an accident with another automobile or fixed object. Comprehensive pays for damage due to other causes, such as hail, fire or theft.

Talk to a knowledgeable Maryland car insurance agent to determine if you need physical damage coverage for your car.
