Pedestrians

Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Collaborative

The Collaborative is:

• funded by the Department of Transportation 
• works in collaboration with the Rhode Island SAFEKIDS Coalition to implement bicycle/pedestrian safety programs targeting Rhode Island children
• works in collaboration with the Initiative for a Healthy Weight to promote physical activity among children and adults
• works in collaboration with community partners throughout the state

Goals are:

• to improve the promotion of children’s and adult’s bicycle/pedestrian activity and safety in our state
• to promote child and adult walking to school and at and to work
• to coordinate the activities of community partner members to implement bicycle/pedestrian safety program targeting Rhode Island children
• to provide community partner programs with resources such as helmets, and bicycle and pedestrian safety literature for children
• to provide partners with technical assistance to develop community initiatives
