Seat Belt Laws
One of three traffic safety laws approved by the 2003 Wyoming State Legislature allows drivers to now be cited for failing to wear a seat belt without first being ticketed for a moving violation.
The new law gives law enforcement officers the flexibility to issue a citation for failing to wear a seat belt without first having to write a citation for a moving violation and will therefore help officers get the message across that seat belts save lives.
Failing to wear a seat belt on Wyoming roads can result in a fine of $25 for the driver and $10 for each passenger not buckled up.
