On April 25th, 2006, the Governor's Highway Safety Office, along with over 300 traffic safety partners from around Ohio, kicked off the 2006 Click it or Ticket / What's Holding You Back? campaign, with mobilizations scheduled for May 22 – June 4, 2006.
Speakers included Colonel Paul McClellan of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Major John DiPietro from the Miami Township Police Department in Montgomery County, Bill Klutho with John Deere who rolled out the new partnership between John Deere and the Ohio Department of Public Safety to promote seat belt safety, Todd McCollough who gave a testimonial on how seat belts saved him and his two boys from a rollover crash in a pickup truck, and Pastor Terry Young from the First Church of God.
The Celina Marching Band participated by providing music along with their rendition of the Buckle Up theme.
This forum also gave way to recognizing our law enforcement partners for their outstanding contributions to last year's campaign. Twenty agencies had the opportunity to win one of two fully equipped patrol cars. The GHSO wants to congratulate the Celina Police Department and the Williams County Sheriff's Office for each winning a fully equipped patrol car.
The April 25th statewide kickoff is just one of many planned around Ohio. Starting on May 1st through May 25th, 23 other kickoffs have been planned. Many of these will be countywide kickoffs and a few will be multi-county. Venues will vary from the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio State University in Columbus, Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, the Youngstown Convocation Center, numerous high schools, and state parks.
