How to Dismiss a Texas Traffic Ticket

Traffic tickets can be a hassle, but by following this simple process you can get your ticket dismissed, points off your license, and you may even be eligible for an insurance discount!

Step 1: Check with the court in the county where you received the ticket to confirm that it is eligible for dismissal.

If you have a Commercial Driver's License, dismissed another ticket within the last year, plead "not guilty," or received a ticket for driving 25 mph or more over the speed limit, your ticket is not eligible for dismissal.

Step 2: Sign up for the Online Texas Defensive Driving Course. Make sure all information is accurate, as this is the information we use to process the Certificate of Completion.

Step 3: Order your Texas Type 3A Certified Driving Records. All Texas courts require your driving record in addition to a defensive driving course certificate of completion. Your driving record will be emailed to you.

Step 4: Begin the Online Texas Defensive Driving course. You can take the course whenever it is convenient for you on any device with internet access. You do not need to take the course in one sitting, log out and back in as much as you like. You will have customer support available 24/7. The course must be completed within 90 days of registration.

Step 5: Complete the course and receive your certificate of completion. We will process the certificate the same day you finish and mail it to the address you provided at registration. You can choose overnight delivery, second day delivery, or US first class mail.

Step 6: Bring your certificate and driving record to the county court. Check with the county court on the proper procedure for this.

Step 7: Check your record again about 30 days later to make sure the ticket has been dismissed. Congratulations on getting your ticket dismissed!
