The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces rumble strip milling is scheduled to begin the week of August 13, 2001 on two sections of the Spaulding Turnpike.
One segment receiving shoulder and median rumble strips will be from Exit 8 in Dover north to the Rochester toll facility. The other segment receiving shoulder rumble strips will be from Exit 16 in Rochester north to Exit 18 in Milton.
This night work, which is expected to take approximately one week to complete, will occur from 7:00 pm until 4:00 am daily and will require lane closures. State Police will be used to guide motorists through the moving work zone.
Rumble strips are milled-in grooves placed several inches apart on roadside shoulders and medians. Studies have found that rumble strips placed on controlled access highways reduce drive-off-the-road crashes by 30 to 50 percent.
