The Vermont State Police have four traffic monitoring trailers in service in each of the four troop areas for use by the Traffic Operations Units and by local governments. The trailers will be parked in areas determined to have high incidents of speeding and aggressive driving violations.
The units are programmed to flash the violating speed of an approaching motor vehicle or display a preprogrammed message warning the motorist that he or she has exceeded the speed limit.
Reminding motorists to check their speed periodically and especially in reduced speed zones encourages voluntary compliance with speed limits. These units also have a memory capability.
